The premises of Miss Niven, dressmaker, Caversnam, was destroyed this morning, together with an adjoining seven-roomed unoccppiedhouse,and a four-roomed house occupied by Joseph Elphinstone, accountant. All the buildings were owned by Hugh Calder. Insurance, -£480 on the houses in Union, lffiven's effects £50 in South British, ElpJunstone'e £180 in London *nd Lancashire. February 8. A cottage on the Fort Chalmers Peninsula, owned by J. B. Hooper, was burned down this afternoon, I* was occupied by Mr W. Heney, of the Postal and Telegraph Department. Both house and furniture were insured. Mr Hooper estimates hisloaaai £50 above the insurance, and; Mr Heney loses a similar sun. j The Hon. £.
