MOUNT HUTT.
The usual monthly meeting of this Board was held on Friday, the 11th inst. Present—Messrs J. Jacks.-m (Chairman), K. Alexander, E. Patton, W. McMillan, and G. Coward. Mr M. J. Brown waited on the Board re dedicating new roads on the Highbank Estate to the Board. After some discussion, Mr Brown asked the Board to take the necessary steps to have the roads dedicated, and that he would pay any expense the Board would incur. Mr George Chambers waited upon the Board on behalf of himself and other residents oa the Boundary road, and asked the Board to form and sow with grass seed about two miles of the said road, as at present it was almost impassable and very dangerous. A letter was received from the Mount Somers Eoad Board, suggesting certain repairs to the Boundary road. After consideration of the letter, it was resolved to apply to the County Council to decide in accordance with the provisions of Section No. 85 of the Public Works Act, 1882, which of the two Eoad Boards shall have control of the Boundary roads, and that notice of the same be sent to the Mount Somers Eoad Board. A letter was received from the Board's employes, asking for an increase of wages. Eesolved to forward them a copy of the resolution of the Board passed in April last, fixing the rate of wages. Letter was received from Mr F. Mainwaring, accepting the appointment of Returning Officer to the Board. Letter from the Commissioner of Crown Lands, asking for a return of the area of the plantation reserves in the district and the quantify of land planted. Eesolved to reply that the County Council is better able to furnish the required information. Letter from Mr E. M. Morten, re fencing or selling the road that has been closed adjoining his property at Methyen. Eesolved that Mr Morten [be informed that' the Board will exchange the old road on liberal terms for land adjoining the Cemetery and recreation reserves. The Overseer's report was read and considered, and he was instructed to have some necessary works done without delay. The Overseer reported that the Bum on deposit would mature on the 29th instant. Eeeolved, that .£IOO and the interest be placed to the credit of [the current account, and the balance reinvested on fixed deposit for three months. After passing accounts to the amount of £41 lie 4d, and transacting the usual routine business, the Board adjourned.
