LYTTELTON.

The election of Mayor of Lyttelton took place yesterday. On the evening previous the candidates, Messrs B. Weyburne and S. R. Webb, explained their views on the various local matters to a numerous audience in the Colonists' Hall, presided over by Mr Harry AUwright, the outgoing Mayor. The election excited no very great amount of interest. One or two vehicles for the use of voters were provided, and conveyed to the poll a good number of ratepayers, who otherwise would probably have found scarcely enough attraction there to exercise their so-called ** inestimable privilege."
