A curious old bye-law has been put in force at Shrewsbury, Emma Fawcett, propaietor of a travelling circus, being fined £1 and lis 6d c?sts, for driving ten vans and thirty horses through the Btreets of the town upon Sunday. The number of pawnshops in Java and Madura has alarmingly increased during the last ten years.
