THE MAYORALTY.
TO THB EDITOB OP THB FBBSS. Sib, —The time is now close at hand when it will be necessary to nominate candidates for the Mayoralty of Chrintchureh. I have made many inquiries, but can hear of no other aspirants than Meters James Gapes and Aaron Ayare. In common with many others, I tbink it a grant pity that sone of our leading citizens appear to have sufficient patriotism I to etep forward at this juncture. There are many gentlemen who would do honor to the office of Major, who have reason to thank God tbat they ever oame to Ohristchurch. Some of them have made large fortunes, and is it too much to expect that at least one of them would deny himself a little in order to conserve the city interests and add dignity to the poeition of our chief magistrate. I hope, for the credit of the city, that some really eligible candidate will yet come forward and reeeue the city from the impending misfortune of having to eleot one or other of the present candidates. The man who will now step into the breach will deserve the thanks of the citizens, and doubtless will be remembered in time to come.—Yours, &0., Anxiety.
