CRICKET.

A match between the Press Club and Bakers was played on the Press ground yesterday, and resulted in a win for the Press on the first innings, time not allowing of the completion of the match. The Press team went in first, and put together 54, of which Aehbolt made 12 and Edmonds 10. The Bakers only reached 20 in their first effort, Washer contributing 11, the bowling of W. H. and W. Q-. Atack being very successful. The second innings of the Press closed for 56, Aehbolt again making double figures with 18, and W. H. Atack 10. The underhand bowling of Whiifield proved very destructive to the Press wiokets. Only an hour remained for the Bakers to pull np 90, and by rapid sooring 67 was reaohed for the lose of eight wickets when time was called. Lloyd 13 and Bennett (not out) 13 were the ohief scorers. The match was thus won by the Press on the first innings by 34 runs. A match was played between the Grreendale and Hororata Clubs on Saturday, the 23rd inst. The scores of the Hororata team were 37 and 17, of which Mr Gh B. Peacock contributed 26 in the first innings. Greendale succeeded in scoring 110 in one innings, the principal scores being— J. Bamsden 58, T. Sawle 19, Gh Wilson 8, and B. Wilson 6. Greendale thus won the match by one innings and 56 runs. A match was played at Springfield on Tuesday last botween the Springfield and Courtonay clubs, resulting in a draw, greatly in favor of Courtenay, the home team making 14 in their first and 60 in their second innings, Oourtenay standing at 56 for their first innings. Time was called before the Oourtenay team could enter on their second innings. For the visitors, J". Bamsden, 12, and H. MoNae, 12 not out, were the principal scorers, whilst for the home team Greenshields 17, and A. Farquhar 12, made a good stand against Simpson's bowling, whioh was very effective. The opening matbh of the Muff Cricket Olub for this season will be played to-morrow. Sides to be chosen on the ground. Wickets will be pitched at eleven o'clock sharp. The following will play for the Lincoln Club in their match against Prebbleton to-day:— J. Blair (captain), J. Taylor, A. P. O'Oallaghan, G-. Lipsoomb, T. Coltman, G-. Taylor, F. Townshend, E. Townshend, W. Miller, F. Moorshead, Gh Barter. Play to commence at 10 a.m. sharp on the Prebbleton ground. On Saturday, the following will play for the Addington Cricket Club, on their ground, against an eleven of the Press Olub: —Meeers W. Atkinson, B. Beattie, B. Brown, Gh Diron, Gh Hepworth, W. Hepwortb, T. Hooper, B. Hardy,. J. McLean, 3. Parker, F. Simpson; emergencies, M. Bowe, A. Aulsebrook. Also an eleven will play against the Bohemians on the ground of the latter. A conveyance will leave the Addington railway gates at 1.15 p.m. The team will consist of Messrs 0. Bayman, J. Flavell, J. Hopper, B. Jackson, W. Lodge, S. McMurray, A. McGtormack, J. Nevin, O. Strange, O. Taylor, G-. Wells, and A. Milford, emergency.
