The address in reply was moved by Mr Bouncell, who advocated the abandonment of Port Darwin, and the establishment of the capital of the northern territory at the head of the Boper river. The Treasurer stated that the Government would not consent to an increase of the number of members in the Assembly unless the Constitution is amended at the same time.
Baylis and McLean have'brought an action against Williamson, the actor, for slander; .£IOOO damages are claimed. A Tn»n named MoFherson, has been arTested on a charge of escaping the police fourteen years ago, when he was being taken to gaol under a conviction for horse stealing. Mr Stock, one of the stewards of the Adelaide Bacing Club, has served a writ on tehalf of Mr MoLoughlin for £1000, being the value of the Birthday Cup Stake, and -which was paid to Banter.
