PARISH MEETINGS.

EAST MALVEBtf.

The. annual meeting of parishioners was held in the Testry of the ' Bust Malvem church on the 28th inst.; having been postponed from the 21st, on account of the -inclemency of the .weather,, Theßev. Buphan in the chair. '"': tij :

' The Chairman stated 'that he had been appointed by the Bishop for a -period of twelve months, and since that haa been reappointed for an additional six months. He regretted the Ifinawaakstete, of the district, alluding to the debt oa the church, but pointed •out to the vestry"that Be had* written to the Church Property Trustees, but as'yet had received no answer. He thought that in all probability they would be willing to lend the money, and receive monthly initalments, pact sinking fund and part interest. Ec was now fully acquainted with the district, anU founds; that there were very few Chnrch,, people the immediate' neighborhood of the -church. Although the inhabitants were co scattered he found that the evening services were the best attended. He was at one time in great despair, but found that both the congregation and T>ffertorira had been trebled "within thfr last few nipnthi. , .;,',!; " Mr Bossiter read a statement of accounts, which. .«howed, a debit of £208 12e rf sd, on tie building fund. •'" ,- .'.;' .;!, The accounts were passed as read. Mr Taylor proposed, and Dr. Meadows seconded—"Thafc circulars be forwarded to parishioners calling for subscriptions to remove the debt on the church and to provide for the- clergyman's stipend." ■ -Camed. Mr Bossiter was reflected people's .churchwarden, and Mr Minchin for the clergyman. The following vestrymen were elected:— Messrs Taylor, Brown, Blythen, Meadows, and Bull.

It'was proposed, seconded, and carried — " That three form a quorum." It was proposed by Ber. Buphan, end seconded by Mr Taylor-^ , That Mr Brown be allowed to do the necessary repairs for the church." * Mr Brown proposed, , and Mr BMhen seconded— '* That in the absence of thp minister lay readers sliould hold evening service."
