Morday, April 28. [Before C. Dudley and J. Hurse, Esqs.] CArrm Tbbspasb.—P. O'Neill, charged with allowing five head of cattle to beat large, pleaded as an excuse that he was away and they had been let out by a bull at large. Case dismissed.
Dog NuißAffO-'OBDiirAH.B.—G. Edmonds was charged with owning an unregistered dog. For the defence it was stated that the puppy had been lost two months, and when round it was registered. Case dismissed. Alleged Assault.—G. C. Pawsey was charged with violently assaulting Mrs Harriet Jackson. The evidence showed that the accused had used abusive language and had struck at complaiuant. The accused denied the allegations in toto. The Bench retired for a short time, and on returning stated that the case would be adjourned till 6 p.m., when the Mayor would be present, and evidence could be taken of the accused's state of mind. He would be asked to remain at the police depot, and there be examined by two medical men.
Citii Oas-B.—P. Fearne vW. Solomon, £6 7s 2d ; order made for immediate payment, or in default defendant to be imprisoned one month. J. McLellan vB. Nesbit, £4 10s; adjourned. W. Eckersleyv Silvester Mitchenaon, £4 Is 9d ; judgment for plaintiff.
