Mr G. W. Binney reports :—The produce market shows no activity and prices remain stationary. Southern flour is coming forward in excess, and stocks in stores are heavy. Southern flour, £10 to £11; Adelaide do, £14; bran, £510s to £6; pollard, £515s to £6; maize, 5s toss 3d;oats,4s6dto4s9d • oatmeal,£2_ ; pearl barley. £24; local cheese, Sd to 7d; hams and bacon in cloth, 8d to BJd; ditto bare. 6d to 7d; potatoes, £5 |10s to £6. Timber—large ordera are in the markets, and prices are! very firm. The annual freshes are anxiously looked for. DuNEDix, January 17. Business during the week has not been quite bo brisk as last week. Quotations are:—Bottled ale scarce; Porster's, 12s 6dto 13s; M'Ewan's, lis to lis 3d; Tennanfs, lis; Bulldog, Us; stout in fair demand and supply, lis 6d to 112s: rwoolpacks. the season's sales are nearly over, 3s Sd to 3s 6dcomsacks, the arrivals this week from Calcutta renlemshed the market, but nearly all being sold to arrive; 8s has been taken for 100 to land. The breadstaffs market is extremely quiet Cement is enquired for. The stock on the' spot is mostly in the hands of one firm, who quote 21s, but Bales to arrive from Auckland and "Wellington are freely made at 17s to 17s 6d for first brands. In fish little is doing-: Salmon remains firm at 8s 6d • lobster is ont of the market; oysters, 100 cases at auction brought 3s Sd. In dried fruits there is little doing. Yalencias have been sold at 4M. In grocers* and oilmen's stores little is doing, and stocks of rice are much increased by recent arrivals from Calcutta. Quotations remain at £32 10b for Patna. Tobacco is quiet beyond trade wants. Spirits, as usual at this season, are quiet. Hennessy's case, 33s to 33s 6d and 345; whiskey in moderate demand, 5s 6d to 5s Od. Kerosene is dull: Holders of Devoe's ask Is 4d t» Is 4{<L Castor oil is in demand, and scarce; sales at 5s 6d Turns scarce, 3s 4{d. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report that at their wool sale yesterday the prices realised were considered satisfactory, considering the state of the home market. They quote creasy half-bred at 6idto9{d,and merino 6id to Old; washed crossbred, 12_d to 13d.
