AKhongh three friadows and the door were open, the atmosphere Wasdose and offensive, but the superintendent that it waa nothicg to what it usually jSHhTwet weather, when it is occupied by ihirfy-five patients and two attendants, and the windows have to be kept shut on aoconnt of the rtKsur»!_. winds. It is absurd to pretend that this place in its present condition has any claim to be considered au asylum. __ It would be an nodeserved compliment to call it a prison. It is not morally justifiable to continue week after week adding to the number of inmates, whaterer difficulty there may be of otherwise disoosing of tbe'inaane. It appears to mc necessary thata circular should be sent to all Resident Jfogisfcrates and acting Justices in tbe provincial district, informing them that no more mtiaits can ~be received into the asylum until the building has been enlarged or a reduction has by some means been effected in the number now resident. Unless rome such step aa this betaken, it seems certain that some dreadful catastrophe will happen. It cannot be too distinctly stated that the asylum is already in a 4__gerous and unmanageable condition, though the patients are described as quiet and orderly. An addition to tbe asylum capable of accommodating -00 patients is recommended.
