LINCOLN.

An ordinary meeting of the Board was held at the office, Prebbleton, on the 2nd instant. Present—Messrs Peryman (chairman), J. Maskrey, rad Joseph Haydon. The surveyor's report was considered. Correspondence was read from Selwyn County Council, Registrar-General, and Minister for Public Works, asking for statistics of rec*ipts and expenditure, &3. The chairman said he had furnished the information applied for. From the Springs Road Board, in reference to the apportioning of a part of Reserve No. 343, in the Lincoln Road district, for the purpose of a public cemetery, and asking the support of the Board in the matter. From Selwyn County Council, stating that £70 had been set apart by the Council for the improvement of recreation grounds in the district, and asking if any reserve made for other purposes could be advantageously converted into a recreation ground, and, if so, to furnish all information concerning it; also, the names of trustees for same. Mr Guy's application to have a part of the Waterholes road metalled was again considered. From Mr J. W. Morshead, asking that the road through Stoddart's may be opened at once, and tho memorialists would ascertain what proportion of the cost they would be able to raise. A memorial was read from Mr Fustell and other ratepayers, asking the Board to cleanse a part of Blackler's drain. From Mr McGrath asking one week's extension of time for the Ellesmere road contract. The clerk was directed to inquire how much of the reserve the Springs Boad Board wanted apportioned for a public cemetery, and what part of the reserve would be selected, and to say that the matter would be considered next Board meeting. To inform the Selwyn County Council that the Board would apply to have a portion of Reserve No. 202 set apart for recreation grounds. Mr Guy to be informed that tenders would be invited for metalling a portion of Waterholes road. Mr Morshead to be informed that the Board cannot open a road through Stoddart's as requested, as no definite amount had been mentioned as a contribution towards the cost thereof. To inform Mr Fussell that the cleaning out of Blackler's drain would be left with the surveyor to arrange. Mr McGrath's application was granted. Tenders were opened for erection of stone culverts at Haydon's bridge and Sharpe's corner, and one for eaoh culvert accepted conditionally. The Clerk was directed to ascertain from the pound keeper at Lincoln for what sum he would undertake to impound all cattle straying on the public roads in the district for twelve months. It was resolved that a rate of 6d in the £ be levied for the year ending 31st March, 1879, payable on or before the Bth of June next, and Mr C. L. Davies was appointed collector of the same. The surveyor was directed to call for tenders for metalling parte of Waterholes road and Tramway drain road, and claying a part of Ellesmere rood by Dawson's, near Gartrell's bridge, tenders to be sent in on the 11th inst. The Chairman stated that the public meeting convened for 1 p.m. on the 2nd inst., to consider the advisability of bringing into force within the district the provisions of the Local Elections Act, 1876, had lapsed on account of no ratepayers attending at the time appointed. Accounts amounting to the sum of £295 Is 2d were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
