LEESTON.
[Before G. L. Mellish. Egg, R.M.. C. J. Bridge, and R. B. Willis, Esq, J.P.'sl Creating a Disturbance in a Licensed House.—George Miln, Edward McAnalty, and Thomas Sullivan were charged by T. Gear, manager for Mrs Mcßean, with having created a disturbance in the Dunsandel Hotel. George Miln, who was proved to have been the originator of the disturbance, was fined 20s, two witnesses' expenses 30s, and costs 16s 6d. The case against the other two was dismissed.
Breach of the Cattle Trespass Ordinance.—The following persons were summoned by the police for having infringed this Ordinance, but in each instance the case was dismissed by the Bench—Messrs J. McVinnie, W. White and Co, 8. Doyle, and J, Coldstream.
Breach op the Public House Ordinance.—lsabella Mcßean was charged by the police with having allowed gambling to be carried on in her licensed house. The chirge was, however, not proved, the evidence of Mrs Mcßeau's manager showing that they were not aware of the fact that gambling was going on at the time.
Drunk and Disorderly.—P. Burns, brought up in custody, was charged by ConStable Smith with having created a disturbance in Spring's Southbridge Hotel on the previous evening, and with having resisted the police in the execution of their duty. Conclusive evidence was adduced, and a fine of 20s and expenses 15s was inflicted.
Civil Cases.—Mrs Mcßean v W. H. Barry, claim £6 3s on a judgment summons; order was made by the Bench for defendant to pay the amount in instalments of 20s per week, or in default four weeks' imprisonment. W. Pauling v C. W. Minchener, claim £4 2s 3d, balance of wages; judgment for plaintiff for £3 5s 3£d, costs 18s, and one witness 7s. J. J. Loe t Andrew Yeitch, claim £4 13s ; judgment for plaintiff by default, with costs lis. J. Metcalfe v Dan. Buckley, claim £5; no appearance of plaintiff; nonsuit entered ; defendant allowed 20s for three witnesses.
Slaughter Licenses. — The following applications for slaughtering licenses were granted by the Bench :—Mr G. Saundrey, section No 6073, near Leeston ; Messrs Fitzroy and Acland, section No 4049, near Taumutu ; Mr Job Osborne, section 7589, near Leeston ; Mr Samuel Stuckey, section 3615, at Irwell. LEITHFIELD. Wednesday, Max 12. TBefore 0. Whitefoord, Esq, R.M,, H. Mcllraith, and W. C. Fendall, Esqs.] Police Ordinance.—J. Garty, on remand, to allow him to join a temperance society, charged with abusing his wife, was fined 10s and costs.

Civil Case.—T. Benn vD. Gorrie; claim, £4 4s ; plaintiff nonsuited, with costs.
