ENGLISH SHIPPING.
On March 6th Messrs Murdock and Murray, Port Glasgow, launched lrom their shipbuildiug'y ard * steiini screw hopper barge, named the Sumner. The bar-jre represents the -first part of a contract of dredjrhijr plant—dredsrer and hoppers—lor the Provincial Government of Canterbury, New Zealand. After the launch the Sumner was towed to Glasgow to receive her machinery. The tonnage loading on the berth at London, March 32th, for India, China, and the Cape of Good Hope, amounted to 62,404 tons; and for Australia and New Zealand to 60,553 tons. The White Bose. for Canterbury, arrived at Plymouth on February lTth. The following ships are on the berth at London for this port—Lanarkshire, 794 tons; Marmion, 753 tons; Oriana, 997 tons; Surrey, 1089.
