CHRKTCHUBCH. Monday, Apbil 11

(Before C. C. Bowen, Esq., 8.M.) Larceny—John James Keefe was charged with stealing some sausages from the shop of Mr Tetley, butcher, High street, on Saturday last. The accused was detected in the act by Mr Tetley, who gave him into the custody of Constable Rutledge. His Worship sentenced the accused to six months imprisonment with hard labor. INEBRIATES —The following Bacchanalians were fined as follows for being drunk and disorderly—James Smith, alias Thornton, 20s, or forty-eight hours' imprisonment; Henry Smithers, ss, being his first offence ; Thomas Bonas, 20s ; William Prideaux, 20s; Thomas Callaghan, ss, first offence ; Andrew Maxwell, for being drunk and illegally on the premises known -ns Moneys Hotel, 10s; Thomas Leslie, 103: Wm. Newby, alias Jones, 40s : and' John Bird, 20s. Tuesday, April 15. [Before R. J- S. Harman, Esq., J.P.] Larceny—John Spinks, charged with stealing a bottle of porter from Ringwood's dining rooms, was remanded until this morning. Wife Desertion—Wm. Barton, brought up on warrant for deserting his wife in Dunedin, was remanded until this morning. Drukkasd Disorderly—Wm. Thompson, charged with the above offence by Conl stable Haddrell, was fined 10s. Alexander Winchester, charged with being drunk by Coustable Haddrell, was cautioned and discharged. William Jones, for the same offence, was, on the evidence of Sergeant I Willis, fined 20s.
