H. P. MURRAY-AYNSLEY. • Riverlaw, • Bth April, 1873. 4-9,2651 TO THE ELECTORS OP LYTTELTON. GENTLEMEN,— A. vacancy in the representation of Lyttelton having occurred through the resignation of your late member, Mr J. T. Peacock, at the request of several of the electors I beg to offer myself as a candidate for your suffrages. With reference to my political views I may briefly state that I decidedly approve of the progressive policy of the present Government; but should you do mc the honor to return mc as your representative I would endeavor to act independently, and give my vote in favor of such measures aa I should, in my judgment, deem most advantageous for the interest of the colony generally. I would support a judicious system of Immigration, fairly distributed throughout the various provinces, an economical expenditure of tbe public revenue, and do my best to urge forward any movement favouring the development of local industry, and the utilizing of the native products of the Colony— vegetable and mineral. - As your representative, I would always use whatever interest I might possess, in furthering the welfare of our Borough, at the same time not forgetting the requirements of the Province at large. ...
