Pilliet, Esq., R.M.J Unregistered Dog.—Richard Clark, tbe j owner of a dog not registered under the j Act, was fined £1, and ordered to pay 5s (Sd costs. Civil Cases.—Edwin Chapell v. Thomas Johnston. Claim of £5 for use and occupation of a piece of land in dispute. Case adjourned until the 13th instant. OXFORD. | [Before G. L. Mellish, Esq., R.M., and G. L. Lee, Esq., J. P.] Slaughter-house licenses were granted to Thos. B. Howson, and James Charles, of Moeraki Downs. , . Extension of license was granted to Frederic Luers, of Harewood Arms hotel, Ox- i ford, on the occasion of the annual sports at Oxford. Civil Cases.—The following cases were heard :—Woodfield v. Morris, £5 I6s 3d ; judgment by consent. F. B. Hanson v. — Nutt, £3 ; judgment by default ; and Ledcole v. Wilson,' £4 6s ; settled out of Court. Wm. Wilson v. Chairman Oxford Road, Board, claim for £10,' for damage done to plaintiff's land and crop through the overflow of water in a drain caused to be cut by the Road Board, and which drain was now obstructed by a. dam.; several witnesses were heard on both sides as to the natural fall or course of the water being towards plaintiff's land or not; plaintiff applied for an adjournment until such time as it would rain, to fully determine this matter by ocular demonstration. His Worship said "this is the most novel application I've had, or even heard of, for an adjournment, and considering that we cannot make terms with the clerk of the weather to suit our purposes, I think I must refuse the application " ; plaintiff was ultimately non-suited, with costs.
