On Saturday, at 5 p.m., in attempting to take the Kaiapoi bar, the schooner Nile, Captain Early, from Akaroa, went ashore on the spit. Her cargo of 7800 feet sawn timber and 25 cords of firewood, for Messrs Belcher and Fairweather, has mostly all been " rafted" alongside, so as to lighten the vessel, and she will be got off comparatively easy, very probably next tide. The accident occurred, it is believed, through the vessel missing the channel, as the pilot informed us some days since that the deep-water channel was in very good condition.
