At a metting of members of the Ancient Order of Foresters held on Monday evening, it was resolved that the annual theatrical entertainment take place shortly for the benefit of the Widow and Orphans Fund. Yesterday, in bankruptcy, before the Registrar, in re Arthur Robert Cooper, Mr Harper obtained an order annulling an order of adjudication, and to take the proceedings off the file. lit re Charles Flockton (limaru), an application by Mr Cottrell to fix date for final examination was refused, as the meeting of creditors had not been properly gazetted. Mr CotterelTe Drawing Boom Entertainment on Monday evening at Eoiapoi was fairly attended, though the bleak weather told against it. He will visit Leithfield this evening and Kangiora to-morrow. A vestry meeting was held in St. Peter's Church, Akaroa, on Monday, April 25 Rev. W. Aylmer presiding. The accounts for the past year were passed, and a vote of thanks given to the retiring churchwardens. The Rev. W. Aylmer then nominated Mr W. Townsend as his churchwarden. Mr Latter proposed, and Mr Watkins seconded, that Mr 3. D. Garwood be elected churchwarden for the ensuing year—Carried. The following gentlemen were then elected as vestrymen — Messrs E C Latter, S Watkins, C L Wiggins, C W Bridge, Gr Saxton, and W H Pilliet. Mr Aylmer proposed that the best thanks of this meeting be given to the ladies and gentlemen of the choir ; and the meeting closed with the usual benediction from the presiding clergymen.

Despite the inclement weather, there was a good attendance at the Town Hall last evening, when Dr Carr gsive the second of hie series of seances. The evening commenced with a lecture on phrenology, eloquently delivered by Br Carr, unci which was illusrated by phrenological sketches of character from living subjects. A series of marvellous experiments in mesmerism concluded the seance. This evening the eubject of the lecture will be " The Girls of the Period." We understand that in future theee lectures will terminate at half-past teu.

A moctinc of the Lyttclton Borough Council was held on Monday, April 25, 1870. Present —The Major, Councillors Allwright, Youn£, Bunker, Stout, and Chalmers. The amount received since last meeting wa» £8 16s 3d. The following correspondence wae read: —To several owners of cattle resident near Brenchley farm, in reference to their cattle wandering upon tho road. A letter from A. Cuff, asking the Council to allow a cortaiu sum out of the rent to be expended upon the premises occupied by him in repairs. It was resolved that the sum of £10 bo allowed for that purpose. The report of the Foreman of Works was read. It stated that the pump in Oxford street, receatly repaired, was again out of order. The Works Committee were requested to attend to the necessary repairs. Tho Mayor said the committee that wero appointed to revise the rate roll had completed their labors. He should like the councillors to look over it and make any suggestions they might think necessary. Cr Chalmers asked the Mayor if he had taken action with regard to the school prizes. The Mayor, in reply, said he had not done so, as he was expecting that some alteration would be made with regard to the public schools, it being probable that they would merge into one good school. Cr Chalmers thought that in the event of that being the case the Council might grant some land for tho school to be erected upon from their reserve. Some discussion eneued, the Councillors agreeing that they would render any assistance in their power to the scheme. The Council then adjourned. A meeting of tho Eyreton Road Board took place on Monday last. Present— J. JE. Brown, Esq., chairman, Messrs Bradley and Clark. In consequence of Mr O. Hillyard'e resignation as a member of the Board, an election wae held to fill the vacancy. Mr Moffat proposed Mr T. Chilton, seconded by Mr M. Dixon. Mr A. Weir wae also propoed, bat was declared ineligible, his name not being upon the roll. Mr Dixon was declared elected, and thereupon took his eeat. Accounts amounting to £23 10s were passed for payment. Tenders were opened for the formation of Clist'e road, for about forty-six chains. Guntry's tender for the work, at 9s 6d per chain, was accepted. A tender from Eckersloy and Co. being informal, was also accepted conditionally. Permission was granted to Mr Baddon to throw some earth into the centre of a road. Mr Chilton waited on the Board to get tho Oxford road repaired. Resolved that the Surveyer attend to it. Mr Hey ward had an interriew relative to the formation of part of Kaiapoi Island road. Resolved that the Board contribute £20 to the ratepayers £10, pro rato. Mr I. Wilson requested the co-operation of the Board in clearing part of the Ohoko creek, or to give him permission to clear it at his own expense. Resolved that permission be given to Mr Wilson to clear the watercress from theOhoko creek, but the Board accept no responsibility. Messrs Asbworth and Burgess wiehed the Board to form part of the Oxford and Drain road. The surveyor was directed to examine and report on it. Mr Ashworth wished the Board to form part of the Oxford and Ohoko road, offering to undertake the game if the Board contributed £50. Resolved the Board will give £40, and the timber required for culverts ; the inhabitants undertaking the work and completing it according to a specification and to tho Board's satisfaction. RβsolTcd, that the Board pay Mr E. A. Lock's account, £10 17s Gd upon his furnishing rato rolls of sub-districts, Mr Clark proposed, Mr Dixon seconded—" That a rate of ninepence in the pound be made and levied upon the assessment, payable on July let." Mr Brown proposed an amendment—" That the rate be * sixpence.' " The motion was carried. The meeting then adjourned.
