UOCO V BLLESMEBB.

The return match between the above clube was played on the Ellesmere ground at the Irwell on Friday last. The Chriatchurch men were driven up in the morning in a drag by Mr Beecher, and returned after the match. The UCOC won the toes and took first inninge. A very fair wicket had been prepared, but owing to the nature of the turf on the ground the balls hung in a manner, which seemed to puzzle the town team not a little. They only succeeded in obtaining the very email score of 34, Dickinson alone reaching double figures. For Ellesmere—o. S. Alington and Cottenll played well and eteadily for their respective scores, and A. E. Williams and Lambert alao made a good stand. Williams' 15 included two tremendous on-drives | from Cox for 6 and 5. In the second innings of the TJ C C 0 the bowling of the Ellesmere men, which had been very fair previously, fell off very much. Their fielding was also very loose, and consequently the UCCC improved considerably on their first attempt. Fowler wae the principal scorer; his 55 (not put) comprised one 6, four 3'e, seven 2'e, &c. When i time was called, the ECO had made 12 rune for the loss of five wickete; and as it was a one day's match they were victorious in the first innings by 51 runs, though there can be but little doubt that had there been sufficient time to play out the match they would not have obtained the 49 rune required to win.
