CRICKET.

Wβ publish to-day the batting averages, and also the analysis of the bowling for the , eoaeon that has just closed. The following matches have been reckoned in the coraputa- ! tion of the average—The Interprovincial M atoh, Town v Country, Old v. New, and all matches in which the TJOOO and Albion CC have played their first elevens. The batting averages of all batsmen who have played in six of the above matches, and the bowling averages of bowlers in four innings, are given. Fowler and Odeil are first in the batting department, each with an average of 25. Fowler's must be considered the best, as he has played in a much larger number of innings. Cotterill is next with 20. Then Maples, Moore, and Ollivier, each with 18. Bent averages 16, but has only played in five matches. Alington, -with 14 in twelve innings, is the only other that calls for any remark. In the bowling, Harley and Moore show best. Harley'e analysis is perhaps the better of the two, as each wicket has cost him two runs less than Moore, though on the other hand the large number of widee (32) bowled by him contrasts unfavourably with Moore. Turner, who has bowled in a much smaller number of innings, and Fowler come next. Parkerson has a smaller average of runs to a wicket than any other bowler. He commenced the season well, bowling excellently in some of the matches, but rather fell off at the latter part of the season. The following are the averages :—
