CRICKET MATCH.

The match between the second eleven of the Albion Club and an eleven chosen from the Lincoln, Templeton, and Prebleton clubs, and which had been previously postponed owina to bad weather, was yesterday played in Haglev Park. A worse day for cricket could hardly be imagined. During tha whole match the wind was blowing a gale from the southward, and so bitterly cold was it thai; most of the players went into the field with their coats on.

Under such circumstances good cricket was an impossibility, and the display made yesterday cannot be wondered at. Great excuse can be made for our country friends ; they came upon the ground without we believe ever having played together as an eleven before, and without any previous practice ; whilst the second eleven of the Albion Club have had good ground to practice on, and it is their fault if they have not made use of it.

The Albions won the toss, and sent their opponents into the field, Taoon and Clarke going to the wickets against tho bowling of atiilwell and Murray. Tacon made a good stand, obtaining a score of 26, but tho other wu-keta rapidly fell until Wills appeared, and he saw three wickets down before he could meet with a confrere of equal prowess. The last man, Ashbolt, however, proved to be a i sticker, and between him and Wills a good score was rapidly run up. At this time the bowling of the Country Clubs waa very wild, as many as six wides being scored off one bowler in two overs. Wills and Ashbolt kept together until the latter hit his wicket; the score being 124 The byes in the first innings amounted to 14; wide balls, 17; and leg byes, 2 ; making a total of 33. None of the players in the Country team in their first innings made a double figure, the fielding on the part of the Albions, although anything but first-rate, apparently being too good for them. Their wickets fell for 33 runs, seven of which were for wide balls. In their second innings the bowling of,

Banks and Wills proved too much for our country friends. A better stand was, h-'wever, made than in tho lirst. inni,,..' Wright, made 16, and Stillweil and a;„ l ,, h apiece. The other wickets, however w-n taken easily, and a total score of 85 wa's n m( l e in two innings against tho Albions' one innings of 124.

It was very evident from tho playing 0 f the Country Clubs yesterday tliat they\vi,nterl lvaetice together as a team ; neither the hatting or bowling of tlie Albion* was anything to be af-aid of, and with a little care and ihm,.. tiee they might have achieved a victory. Of course country clubs cannot liave the Bin u > facilities f„r practice that v town club has on a wed laid ground. The following is the score -1
