[By Submarine Telegraph.] Wellington, April 8, 7.50 p.m. The Southern rifle competitors only arrived in the Tararua at eight o'clock. All the men were on the Hutt gro.md by eleven. A dispute arose as to whether four Northern men were qualified. The firing commenced under protest at two, and closed at six. Otago wins four prizes, and Canterbury one. The scores were : — Chisholm (winner of the belt), 42 ; Laeoy, 36 ; Smith, .35 ; Craigie, 35 ; Richardson, 31. Smith and Craigie fired ofi" their tie, and Smith won. Fourteen men competed ibr the prizes. The Eakaia has sailed with about seventy passengers.
