Competition For Bacon Is Keen
The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co. Ltd. report having held their fortnightly pig sale at Edgecumbe on September 11. A medium yarding of all classes of pigs was penned. Competition for bacon was keen, while store and weaner pigs were easier. Quotations: —
Heavy bacon to £7 14s; medium bacon, £7 to £7 ss; light bacon, £6 5s to £6 15s; heavy pork, £5 5s to £5 18s; medium pork and large stores, £4 15s to £5 Is: medium store pigs, £4 Is to £4 12s; small stores, £3 5s to £3 15s; slips £2 15s to £3 Is; weaners, £2 to £2 8s; forward conditioned 8.. F hoggets, shorn, £2 2s to £2 ss; store shorn hoggets to £2.
