RUGBY UNION TO BUILD AT DOMAIN; BOARD DISCUSSION
Having had a successful season, the Rugby Sub-Union proposed to erect such buildings as dressing sheds on their section, said Mr R. T. Morpeth to the Whakatane Domain Board on Monday night.
A problem of tenure arose, as had beerf' the case when the Cricket Association had made a similar request. Buildings would need to be vested in the Board but the Sub-Union would be entitled to exclusive use of them, said the chairman, Mr B. S. Barry. About £I2OO was to be spent, said Mr Morpeth. \ Mr H. G. Warren: I do not agree that sports bodies# should build on the Board’s property. Mr Barry: I do. They should be patted on the back. Mr Morpeth: On the other hand, these applications are coming in from all sides.
The Board agreed that it was responsible for the erection of conveniences for general use. All buildings would have to be planned to fit into a scheme, said Mr Barry.
