HAWKE’S BAY CAPTAIN IS FORMER ALL BLACK The captain of the Central Hawke’s Bay Sub-Union Rugby team to play at Whakatane tomorrow is the former All Black hooker, J. McCormick, who toured Australia as utility hooker to H. Catley in 1947. Other players in the team are comparatively unknown to this district. The team: —

PLAYERS FOR THIRD GRADE TRIALS Thirty-three players will take part in the third grade Rugby trials to be held on the No. 1 field at Whakatane at noon tomorrow. From this trial a team is to selected to play Rotorua for the Parata Cup at Rotorua on August 19, the day Whakatane challenges for the Te Hurinui Apanui Shield. All players must be at the ground at 11.30 tomorrow morning to be weighed.
