TWO COMPETITIONS ARE DECIDED Although being defeated 12-11 by Olympics, whom they beat the previous week, Paroa were still the winners of the senior Whakatane basketball competition, which concluded on Saturday. The junior / division went to St Joseph’s while the intermediate resulted in a tie between Taneatua and Poroporo B. These teams will play off the final. The season will close next Saturday with a knockout tournament.
Results: — Olympics 12 v Paroa A 11, Taneatua 16 v Redwings 10, Taneatua beat Paroa B by default, High School B 16 v Taneatua' 13, St Joseph’s 17 v Primary B 3, Paroa A 25 v High School A 16, High School B 11 v Redwings 5, Redwings beat Paroa B by default, High School A beat Poroporo by default, Olympics beat Poroporo by default.
