BAY LOSES WAITANGI SHIELD Bay of Plenty lost the Waitangi Shield when they were defeated by Auckland by 27-12 in a representative Rugby league match played at Ruatoki on Saturday. It was watched by a large crowd who saw some bright football. The referee was Mr A. Berryman, Waikato.
Tries: Auckland, M. Pai 3, Manga 2, Lee, T-uhere, Menzies 1; T. Pai converted three and a penalty, A. Wright converted one try. Bay of Plenty, J. and S. Whetu one each, converted by T. Hohua, who also kicked a penalty.
