Tenancies Of State Houses In Waikato And Bay Of Plenty
During the quarter ended June 30, 116 State houses were let or re-let throughout the Waikato-Bay of Plenty district, states a report from the manager of the State Advances Corporation at Hamilton. Of these tenancies, 56 were granted to applicants eligible for the preference extended to certain classes of ex-servicemen and 60 were given to civilians. During this quarter ( 531 new applications were lodged in the Wai-kato-Bay of Plenty district for State tenancies, 419 being from civilians and 112 from ex-servicemen. The total number of unsatisfied applications on hand at the close of the quarter was 3292, of which 2603 Were from civilians. The number of rental houses already completed in the district is 2456, and 478 more are in the course of. erection.
From the inception of the Government’s present housing scheme up to June 30, 33,007 new tenancies have been made available throughout the Dominion.
