Question For Mr Fraser “New Zealand is a country of tremendous virility—and where do you get the paint?” asked Mr C. E. Martin, Attorney-General of New South Wales, at an .Australia Day celebration at which, the Prime Minister was a fellow-guest. “As a member of the Government I would be delighted to know. I have been in a dozen New Zealand towns where one in every ten houses is newly-painted, while at home there is not one in one hundred. We can’t even get the State houses painted.” Mr Martin added that New Zealand had much to teach Australia. He had been particularly impressed with the Probation Officer system and the attempts at matrimonial reconciliation and had learned a great deal in both fields.
