ORIGINAL HARBOUR BOARDSECTIONS

Sir, —Seeing mention in the Beacon of April 30 of past history of the first sections leased from the Harbour Board, I am writing to throw a little more- light on past history. The first Harbour Board reclaimed sections to be offered as business sites, were six sections which were pu,t up by auction with a reserve of £10 per year as rent, term of lease, being 14 years with right of re-» ncwal, subject to revaluation for further term. At the public auction which was advertised in the Press, only two; sections were disposed of, and at the reserve £10; Kirk and Carter taking one and myself the other on which I opened a tailoring business on the west side of the Post Office. The other four sections were taken up privately soon afterwards I do, not know how long after. Yours etc., F. MAHY, Ohope.
