FIRE AT HOSPITAL
BRIGADE'S SMART WORK
LAUNDRY CEILING DAMAGED
At 10 o'clock last night the Fire Brigade received a call to the hospital l where it had l been discovered that fire had broken out in the laundry, a concrete! and wood structure detached from the main buildings. The Brigade was promptly on the scene and attacking the outbreak through the roof soon, had it under control. It appears that the fire commenced in the wooden ceiling over tbe boiler room and had grown in the confined space without being noticed until it had a good hold. Fortunately the brigade arrived smartly and immediately discovered the seat of the trouble to at,tack it at its source, lifting roofing iron and pouring water on to the flames. Within a hour the fire was completely under control.
It was not last night possible to estimate of the damage done, but as this was confined to the ceiling it is not likely to be very great.
