ROYAL ANNIVERSARY
KING-EMPEROR'S BIRTHDAY
TO-DAY'S HOLIDAY
CELEBRATIONS throughout the Empire, to-<lay will mark the Birthday of His Majesty Kingj George VI. The Greatest Empire the World has known will celebrate the occasion with festival and rejoicing. In this far-flung Commonwealth of Nations, peoples of all colours, cultures and languages will join in their un. counted millions to honour the Monarch who is loved and respect ed by the lowliest of his subjects. Is it not something of a miracle to' consider upon: such, occasions, the remarkable fact that to-day, in a world of falling thrones and decaying royalties, the British monarchy stands stronger than ever before?
It remains the cornerstone of Empire. It is more than that, for whatever significance it holds for the people of Empire, the Throne of England is without question an inspiration to the world. Towards its dignified sym_ holism, is directed the faith of the smaller nations and the un-< bora loyalties of the vast American continent. Its influence is the stabilisation of civilisation and its ideal the Peace of Mankind. These thoughts which come to the Britisher to T day ? fill him with Pride of Race and the glow of warmth that comes to a person proud of the deeds of his fore, bears. The fertile Dominion of New Zealaad though the farthest of the Empire's outposts, joins her voice in, the chorus of loyalty to the Motherland and her unbroken fealty to the Crown. Long may the strength of the Em pire-bond unite our peoples into one, long may the Throne of England remain the Bright Star, to which the Democracies of the World will pledge their faith and hope in the belief of a fairer future.
