GIRL SCOUTS IN ENGLAND
AMERICANS ALLOWED TO USE COSMETICS Thirteen excited American Girl Scouts, aged 14 to 20, arrived in Eng and recently to start a threemonth camping holiday in Europe. They are in charge of their leader, Miss Helen Seth-Smith, an Englishwoman from Reigate, who has lived in America since before the war. Nearly all the girls had permanent waves and all wore lipstick. "We have no rules concerning cosmetics and nail varnish," said thsir leader, "but we encourage the girls to avoid bright mauve hues." An official of the British Girl Guides' Association told them there are no rules banning the use of cosmetics among the Guides, but they are not encouraged.
