Financial Estimates Adopted At Meeting Of Tauranga Hospital Board

STENTS' FEES RECEIVED LAST YEAR IN PA EXCESS OF ALLOWANCE

Te Puke borough £7ll 12s 9 (£7lO 18s Id) total, £18,305 13s 5d (£18,035 2s 4d). Dealing with maintenance payments, the secretary stated that the board received an advance of £3OOO to complete the financial year. An outstanding maternity claim, however, was paid after the advance was received and the board finished the year with a larger cash in hand balance that was anticipated. The advance would be repaid from subsidy during the coming year. The final total of the interest account was less than the estimate. Interest payments last year totalled £3959 12s Id as against the estimate for 1948-49 of £4497 (is Bd. The estimate of interest payments for 1949-50 was £4303 15s sd. ■Payments to other boards for the treatment of residents of the Tauranga district (sanatorium committees) were £1143 3s 6ri to the Pukeova Sanatorium Committee; £44 13s 2d to the Western Districts Joint Sanatorium Committee and £l3 5s 2d to the North Canterbury Hospital Board, making a total of £l6Ol 6s lOd. Referring to the children's ward, the secretary stated that the final cost and that for which Ministerial consent was obtained was £36,363. The amount originallv raised in the 1943 and 1946 loans was £27,500 and added to this was £2500 for which consent was obtained from the loans board to transfer from the Te Puke Nurses' Home additions. The sum of £4454 was provided in last year's capital estimates and it would be necessary to provide £1914 in addition to the £4454 brought forward from last year.
