HAWKES BAY WOOL RECORD
60id PAID BY N.Z. MILL (P.A.) Napier, March 15. A record pri'ce for Hawke's Bay wool was paid at the opening day 0;! the March sale today. Early in the afternoon a New Zealand mill bid 80;ld for four bales of superfine fieece wool from Otane, and ten minutes later the same buyer'bought five bales of similar class wool from a station near Napier at 60id. The previous Hawke's Bay record price was 57d, paid for Corriedale wool from central Hawke's Bay two years ago. Values at the sale were fully firm on recent quotations, but no officral range of prices was available tonight There was a strong demand for fine crossbred wool, and lamb wools were also keenly sought.
