Women's Division Forms New Branch At Oropi

A meeting of women residents of Oropi was held in the hall on Thursday afternoon to inugurate a branch of the Women’s Division of the Federated Farmers.

Mrs M. L. Shandley, the provincial organiser, explanied that this large organisation had special assets which they have built up during their existence during the past twenty-three years and which they particularly want to share with every farmer’s wife and countrywoman in New Zealand. To do this successfully they aim at having a branch of the Division in every country district, so that their members can enter one of the five rest homes which they own. if wished, at a very small cost. Members can a’so apply for the Division housekeepers when available. Mrs F. M. Donovan, Provincial Vice-President, took the chair for the election of officers which resulted: President, Mrs M. C. Entwisle; secretary and treasurer, Mrs Grayling; vice-president, Mrs Robinson; committee, Mesdames Fleming, Rogers Jnr. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs M. C. Entwisle and Mrs Grayling.
