DROWNING FATALITY AT TE PUKE
MAORI'S BODY RECOVERED FROM KAITUNA RIVER A Maori, Mr Tai Moana O’Callaghan, aged about 21, son of Mr and Mrs Tai O’Callaghan, was drowned while bathing in the Kaituna River at Te Puke yesterday. Mr O’Callaghan had been haymaking and late in the afternoon he went with some friends for a swim in the river at Te Puke. He was not a strong swimmer and was swept away. The body was recovered this afternoon about three miles downstream from the main highway bridge at Te Puke.
