Parents and pupils are responding well as in former years, and a fine variety of necessary articles will be available.

The Principal of the college (Mr A. M. Nicholson) was recently able to convey to the pupils the gratitude of the English school children by reading a letter forwarded by the headmaster of The King’s School. Pontefract, Yorkshire. This is a

school of 500 boys. The College was told how the last consignment had provided one article for each pupil. Each form conducted a draw and the items were selected in the order of the numbers drawn. The headmaster (Mr .1. W. Loan) thanked the Tauranga pupils wholeheartedly for the wonderful parcels. in particular the numerous tins of fat. which the boys' mothers especially appreciated. ‘‘T cannot adequately cay how grateful we are to you and to the pupils in Tauranga. Their generosity and thought for us at the King’s School is very deeply appreciated. I wish some of you were hero in person to know our gratitude and to see the school’s reaction to these amazing gifts,” the headmastor added. According to the -headmaster a number of the pupils had written letters which were following by sur-

fa cn mail. Mr Lean went on to discuss approaching examinations and referred to the visit of the Australian cricketers.
