YOUNG FARMERS' SUCCESS
STOCK-JUDGING COMPETITIONS First And Second Places ' At Hamilton Auckland Provincial Shield Won (Times Correspondent) To have been awarded first and second places in the first annual stock-judging competitions held by the Auckland Provincial Council, at the Hamilton showgrounds recently, was the outstanding achievement of the Paengarca ' Young Farmers' Club. Placings were as follows:Paengaroa B .. 404 points 1 Paengaroa A .. 388 points 2 Dargaville .. 338 points 3 The winning team consisted of Messrs. J. Gulliver, R. Blaymires and '{,. Johnston, and the A team, Messrs A. Lloyd, R. Va'nt and K. Conway. There were four sections in which results were as follows:
Pigs (Mr Wallace, judge): K. Conway (A) 1, J. Gulliver (B) 2. Dairy Cattle (Mr Patterson, judge): J. Mcffat (Dargaville) 1, R. Blaymires (B) 2. Sheep (Mr T. Johnson, judge): K. Conway (A) 1. Beef Cattle (Mr Gillespie, judge): L. Johnston (B) 1.
The trophy, a shield presented by the Auckland Provincial Council, and known as the J. B. Smith Memorial Shield, was presented to the winning team by Mr Donald Ross, who is a life member of the Auckland Provincial Council.
