PROVISION IN TAURANGA SOUTH

BOARD WILLING TO EXPEDITE WORK

The question of providing street lighting in the Tauranga south area was brought to the notice, of the Tauranga Borough Council at its monthly meeting. Writing to the council, the Tauranga Electric Power Board stated that its attention had been drawn to a press report on a deputation from the Tauranga South Citizens' Association which waited en the council. . The secretary of the board (Mr J. R. Chambers) said he had been directed to remind the council that on May 1, 1946, the board wrote offering to provide street lighting for that particular area on receipt of a request from the council. "11l you will supply us with the necessary particulars cf your council's requirements we will undertake to expedite, the work," concluded the secretary of the beard. The council agreed that the letter should be referred to the electricity committee, with power to take any action thought advisable.
