PROGRESS OF R.S.A. AT MOUNT
KEEN INTEREST OF MEMBERS
OFFICERS ELECTED FOR
1948-49
(Times Correspondent) "From every point of view the past year has been a most successful one, and the branch can feel justly proud of its efforts," said the president Mr G. E. Taylor in his address to members at the annual meeting of the Mount Maimganui branch of the Returned Services Association. The number of financial members had increased from 96 to 120, MiTaylor added, and from the financial aspect, the club was in a much improved position. All obligations had been met in full, and the branch was now entirely free from debt, in addition to having a fairly substantial credit balance in the bank. The speaker advised members that the Government had assisted the branch towards this satisfactory state of affairs by' the gift of £IOO towards the establishment of its club rooms. Keen interest had been taken by members during the year in the social activities of the club, particularly in in-door bowls, and several matches had been played against the Rotorua branch, both at home and'in Rotorua. The innovation of ladies' night had also proved most popular and this was now held every fortnight. Mr Taylor thanked the retiring committee for its co-operation and commended its members on their enthusiasm and efficiency. He wished the branch every success for the ensuing year. Officers elected for the 1948-49 season were: President, Mr G. ,E. Taylor; vice-president, Mr J. McClymont; secretary, Mr G. A. Mills; executive committee, Messrs L. Malpas. F. Dyer, T. Cray, C. J. West > E - Petley and J. Thomson.
