The meeting was successfully organised by Mr S. H. Lee with the assistance of the , members of the staff and the willing co-operation of a number of officials from the Tauranga Athletic Club. Owing to the establishment in 1947 of an intermediate grade, the previous junior records were abolished and no records will be declared in these two grades until 1949. Five records were broken in the-senior grade for boys. A. Davies put up two very good performances to claim records of 10 1-5 sec. and 23 sec. in the 100 and 220 yds. respectively. In the field events, new figures were established by W. Gardiner, H. Robinson and L. Ngatai in the broad and high jumps, and hop, step and jumps, respectively. Detailed results are as follows: — Boys Junior broad jump: Roretana 1, Cochrane 2, Harnett 3. Distance 14ft 4 ins. Intermediate broad jump: Borell 1, Hall 2, Taikato 3. Distance, 17ft llins.
