FOOD RATIONS FOR COMPETITORS
ARRANGEMENTS FOR OLYMPIC GAMES HIGHEST SCALE TO BE ALLOWED London, April 5. The Food Minister, Mr John Strachey. said today that competitors in the Olympic Games, who will live in housing centres while over here, are to get rations equal to those of a worker in heavy industry, as well as extra milk and chocolate. Olympic committees overseas may send food to their own teams free of duty. He told his news conference that more Scotch whisky is to be exported, most of it to hard-currency countries. Mr Strachey disclaimed an Australian report that Britain was to pay more for meat from the Commonwealth.
