GOLF SEASON AT THE MOUNT
TEN HOLES OPEN FOR PLAY VISITORS FROM TAURANGA AND TE PUKE (Times Correspondent) There was an attendance of about 100 at the opening of the Mount Maunganui Golf Club on Sunday, including a large number of visitors from Tauranga and Te Puke Clubs. A Mixed Foursome was played during the afternoon and won by Miss J. McKenzie and Mr JHare, of Tauranga. The weather was perfect and the course was in good condition. At fhe present time only 10 holes are open for play, but it is expected that the remaining, eight holes will be ready within a very short time. Many favourable comments were expressed by visitors regarding the course.
At the conclusion of play, members and visitors were served afternoon tea and the president, Dr. Barry Irvine welcomed the visitors and declared the course op<m for the new season. Messrs C. Wiljcock and V. Bayliss, presidents of the Tauranga and Te Puke Clubs respectively, briefly replied.
