FOREST PATROL WORK
FIRST AUSTER AIRCRAFT REACHES ROTORUA
FITTED WITH TWO-WAY RADIO TELEPHONE
(P.A.) Rotcrua, Jan. 13. The first Auster aircraft to be used for forest fire patrol work in the North Island was flown to Rotorua today. It will replace one o‘f the three R.N.Z.A.F. aircraft at present stationed at the aerodrome for the State Forest Service’s regular patrol and will give a considerably greater range than the Tiger Moths which have been used. The Auster is a high-wing monoplane with accommodation for two nassengers in addition to the pilot. The machine, which has been brought to Rotorua, is fitted with two-way radio telephone and is the forerunner of several Austers which are to compose the fire patrol.
