INJURED MAN’S ORDEAL
CRUSHED BY FALLING
TREE
(P.A.) Napier, Jan. 13. Suffering a broken leg and other injuries when he was crushed by a falling tree at nine o’clock this morning at Pohukura, about 60 miles north of Napier on the Taupo road, a mill worker, Mr John Clapperton, did not reach the Napier Hospital until 4.30 p.m. Mr Clapperton was taken to the main road in a truck. From there he was taken by a private car, which broke down. There was 'a long wait for a service car in which the journey was continued and the final stage was by a St. John ambulance.
