SUNDAY SCHOOL PAGEANT
FUNCTION AT MOUNT MAUNGANUI
TREAT FOR ANGLICAN CHILDREN
The children of the Mount Mau r nganui Anglican Sunday School held /a “Pageant of the Church’s Year” which was presented in Miss Baker’s garden with Mount Drury as a background. The setting was ideal and the children with their banners and coloured sashbands representing the ■ various Sundays And Seasons of the year made*a very delightful picture. The singing was excellent and the children seemed to understand the ' story thoroughly as they took their various parts in it. At the conclusion of the pageant, the prizes were presented by the Rev. D. Rankin, and the following children were awarded prizes. Senior class: Hone Pilbrow. Garth Maxwell, Pamela Harding, with a special prize to Lee Hadley. Junior classy Ray Mac Gibbon, Norman Mac Gibbon, Joan Parkyn. Primary class: Maxine Bardell, Tony Bardell, Heather Mugridge. Each of the other children received a small Christmas gift. After the prize-giving all the onlookers and the children crossed the road to Mrs Armstrong’s garden where afternoon tea, fruit drinks and ice cream, the last being provided by Mi's Armstrong, were dispensed by willing helpers. Then came the climax, a gift for every child, for which Mrs Lysaght was respohsible Mrs Brierley handed out the gifts, and a very happy and contented body of children finally left for home. The thanks of the Sunday School i staff go out to all 'those who so ! generously helped with work, food j and singing to make the whole after- j noon such a pleasant ahid happy !
