GREEK GENERALS DEPORTED
London, Sept. 22
The "transfers" of five former E.L.A.S. generals were put into effect to-day, says the Associated Press correspondent in Athens. The generals, led by. a former com-mander-in-chief, Stephen Serafis, and accompanied by 20 other former E.L.A.S. officers, embarked for passage to the islands. The E.A.M. (Left Wing) said the transfers were in effect deportations which were part of a purge of members of the Left Wing in Athens.
The Ministry of Public Order reported that up to September 1 570 anarchists had been deported under the provisions of emergency measures framed to combat enemies of the State. A further 1379 were appealing against deportation orders.
