ATOMIC BOMB CONSTRUCTION
US. MAKING .100 A YEAR COSTING 1.000.000 DOLLARS EACH New York, Dec. 22. Tite United States is now constructing f>oo atomic bombs a year for its stockpile. This was indicated in a speech by Dr. Irving Langmuir, who said tin* production costs of each bomb were 1.000,000 dollars (about £250.000 in British curerneyl and the United States was spending 500,000.000 dollars a year on the making of atomic bombs. Dr. Langmuir expressed enthusiasm for the decision of President Truman. Mr Attlee and Mr Mackenzie King to exchange information with the Russians. "It was a great mistake not to include Russia in the atomic-bomb project in the first place as we did Britain and Canada.” Dr. Langmuir said. He attributed many of the current diplomatic and political difficulties to Russia’s feeling of insecurity regarding the atomic bomb.
